Marolles Flea Market
The ritual is unchanging: at dawn, the Place du Jeu de Balle fills with sellers offering knick-knacks, chipped frames, costume jewelry and trinkets of all sorts. To unearth the best items, you must get there early and have an expert eye, but there are some nice souvenirs for a few euros to hunt for among this picturesque bric-à-brac. One of the Belgian capital’s institutions, the Marolles flea market also appears in a Tintin book (The Secret of the Unicorn). Tourists and locals enjoy strolling there at weekends and combine their outing with brunch in one of the restaurants that are characteristic of the area.
