Historic Center of Macau
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the historic centre of Macau reminds us that until 1999, the city was governed by Portugal. Around its main street, you’ll see traces of China and Europe. Religious buildings as well as houses and public buildings bear witness to the city’s glorious past as a port. There are more than twenty buildings that have been heritage listed, ranging from the Guia Fortress to the Dom Pedro V Theatre, via Camoes Garden, the city walls, A-Ma Temple… It’s the perfect place for a lovely stroll. The area has been elegantly restored and offers some respite from the casinos and steel of the city’s more modern buildings.
